Introducing the New All-Rosewood Dark Yellow Model to Furch's Yellow Series
The 2024 introduction of the all-rosewood Dark Yellow responds to a growing demand among fans for less conventional tonewood combinations. As Petr Furch explains, “Traditionally, soundboard construction has focused almost exclusively on spruce and cedar. However, today’s modern players are more discerning, requiring a wider variety of sounds for their work. This trend is evident in the rising interest in guitars with different soundboard materials within our custom shop Rainbow Series. As engineers and innovators, we extract the fullest sonic qualities from a given material through meticulous development of bracing design and individual voicing of each soundboard. The creation of the Dark Yellow represents our commitment to broadening the available sonic spectrum further by applying these methods to Indian rosewood.”
The Dark Yellow RR features a soundboard, back and sides made of carefully sourced Indian rosewood. The entire body is protected by Furch’s own proprietary Full-Pore High-Gloss Finish developed to enhance the resonant qualities of tonewood. The finish consists of an ultrathin layer of highly resistant lacquer that provides excellent surface protection and accentuates the structure of the wood at the same time. Elegant appointments combined with premium materials lend the Dark Yellow RR an attractive, classy dark look. The premium nature of the Dark Yellow RR is underscored by the fact that the soundboard is individually tuned using Furch’s proprietary voicing process, which enhances the guitar’s tonal properties to the highest level. Thanks to that, the Dark Yellow RR has a crystalline clear, harmonically rich, balanced, and highly dynamic sound across the entire tonal spectrum. A high precision, dual-action truss rod maintains neck stability and allows for fine adjustment of the neck relief, bilaterally. The truss rod is housed in a highly rigid carbon casing which enables a very smooth and controlled neck relief, ensuring the best playability and enduring optimal setup. The beautiful look of the Dark Yellow RR is underscored by body binding made of faux tortoise, and a double ring rosette featuring a green abalone inlay and black and white lines. White pearl side position dots combined with Eclipse fingerboard inlays, featuring a thin white pearl contour line, improve fingerboard orientation and enhance the guitar’s beautiful appearance. The soundboard is protected by a transparent pickguard that allows the natural beauty of the wood to shine through. The pickguard is designed to have no effect on the tonal qualities of the soundboard. The Dark Yellow RR has an excellent tuning stability courtesy of Gotoh 510 Silver Patina machine heads with ebony buttons and a highly precise 1:21 gear ratio. Maximum protection during transport is provided by a high-rigidity Hiscox case with polyurethane insulating foam that shields the instrument from changes in external climatic conditions. |
